In Alchemists, 2 to 4 players compete to uncover the secrets of their mystical craft. By mixing magical ingredients into potions, they can test their effects—either by drinking them or, more cautiously, by having a loyal assistant do the tasting. Points are scored in several ways, with the greatest rewards coming from publishing accurate theories about the properties of the ingredients. Each turn, players assign cubes to various action spaces, which are then resolved in order. Knowledge is gained by combining ingredients and interpreting results through a smartphone app (available on iOS, Android, and Windows), which randomizes the alchemical rules for every new game. Those seeking an edge can also acquire magical artifacts, granting extra points and special abilities.
