Players mix magical ingredients to discover potion effects using a smartphone app that randomizes alchemy rules. Earn points by publishing correct theories, buying magical artifacts, and strategically testing potions in this competitive deduction game.
In Alchemists, 2-4 players compete to discover the secrets of their mystical art. Mix magical ingredients into potions and drink them to determine their effects - or play it safe and test the concoction on a helpful assistant! Points can be earned in various ways, but most are earned by publishing theories - correct theories that is - and therein lies the problem.
Players declare their actions for the turn by placing cubes on the various action spaces. Action spaces are then evaluated in order. Knowledge is gained by mixing ingredients and testing the results using a smartphone app (iOS, Android, and also Windows) which randomizes the rules of alchemy for each new game. If the alchemists are longing for something even more special, they can always buy magical artifacts for extra points and special abilities.

The deduction puzzle is very well implemented into the game. It even improves the thematic feel. Flawless rulebook. There is a high replay value. With the two variants offered in the rulebook, it is possible to adjust the game's complexity, as well as create handicaps for experienced players. A small complaint would be the slightly crushed box edges, which I assume caused during the transportation from the manufacturer, because other delivered games were in good condition.
One of the best deduction games I have ever met. Using an Android app does not mess up the true board gameing experience.
