Plains Indian Wars (engl.)

Beschreibung

The Great Plains in the latter half of the 19th century were a cultural battleground, where the Native way of life faced an onslaught of settlers, railroad construction, and cavalry forces. Plains Indian Wars distills this complex and tragic era into a strategic game centered on key elements: expanding wagon trains, the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, and the conflict between Native tribes and the advancing settlers.

The game’s map focuses on the Great American Plains, spanning from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west, and bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. The Northern Plains Tribes (NPT) and Southern Plains Tribes (SPT) each defend 12 regions, while the Northern (Crow) and Southern (Mexican) enemies control five regions each. Separating the NPT and SPT is the planned route of the Transcontinental Railroad, whose completion signals the end of the game. The US player gains a bonus for finishing the railroad, while the Native player earns a reward for preventing its completion.

Players navigate wagon trains along historic trails toward the Rockies, with victory points awarded based on whether these journeys succeed or fail—benefiting either the US or the Native player. Plains Indian Wars offers a card-driven, cube-based experience of area movement and control that challenges players to balance expansion and defense in a pivotal chapter of American history.
