Codenames celebrates its 10th anniversary with a refreshed edition that retains the core gameplay you love while introducing several enhancements. This version features a revised word list for smoother play, beautiful new artwork, a custom insert to keep components neatly organized, and a streamlined rulebook that makes learning and teaching the game easier than ever. In Codenames, two spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents, while their teammates only see these agents under their codenames—single words like "chocolate," "sunflower," or even "carrot." The objective is clear: each spymaster tries to guide their team to identify all their agents without revealing the assassin. The game is played by laying out 25 word cards. Spymasters share a key card indicating which words belong to their team’s agents, innocent bystanders, and the assassin. They take turns giving one-word clues paired with a number, hinting at how many cards relate to that clue. Teammates guess cards one at a time. Correct guesses allow for continued guessing, but selecting an opposing team’s card or an innocent bystander ends their turn. Choosing the assassin immediately ends the game. The competition continues until one team identifies all their agents or someone uncovers the assassin. Codenames offers a blend of clever clues, strategic guessing, and thrilling moments that make every game night memorable.
