Sub Terra (engl.)

Description

Sub Terra (engl.) is a family game for 1 to 6 players aged 10+ with a playing time of 60 minutes. Players cooperate as amateur cavers trying to escape a dangerous cave system by exploring tunnels, avoiding hazards like floods and gas leaks, and using unique roles with special abilities to survive before their torches run out.

Sub Terra is a cooperative game where 1 to 6 players take on the roles of amateur cavers trapped in an unexplored network of underground tunnels. Together, they must find a way to escape before their lights go out or the dangerous creatures lurking beneath the surface catch up to them. During their turns, players explore and uncover new sections of the cave system by placing tiles drawn from a randomized stack. This can lead to dead ends or open up new paths to traverse. Each player assumes a unique role with special abilities, such as the Engineer who can use dynamite to clear obstacles or the Scout who can more easily discover routes. At the end of every turn, a hazard card is drawn to reveal threats like floods, cave-ins, gas leaks, or falling scree, which can harm the players or block their escape routes. These hazard cards are limited, and once they run out, the cavers’ torches begin to flicker, the air grows thinner, and their chances of survival rapidly decrease.
