All Bridges burning (engl.)

Beschreibung

The year is 1917. Following Tsar Nicholas II’s abdication, Russia is plunged into a deep internal crisis. On the western edge of the vast Russian Empire, this turmoil creates a power vacuum in the semi-autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland. Across the Finnish political spectrum, many see an opportunity to realize the dream of national independence. However, the competing factions cannot agree on a shared vision for the country. By January 1918, Finland is engulfed in a violent civil war. All Bridges Burning brings the Finnish civil war to life in a new three-player volume of the COIN Series, combining political and military strategy. The Reds aim to ignite a working-class revolt and hold their gains, while the White Senate forces strive to reestablish control. Meanwhile, the third faction, the non-violent Social Democrats, fight to preserve moderate leftism and political reform. All factions must carefully balance national sentiment toward reconciliation to secure a post-conflict settlement and independence. Additionally, Germany and Russia serve as non-player powers, providing military support to the Senate and Reds respectively. Yet, excessive foreign intervention risks destroying the dream of Finnish independence, potentially leading to the defeat of all players. The game features historical events, asymmetrical action menus, and extensive design notes that deepen player immersion in the period. A unique three-faction sequence presents fresh challenges for both COIN veterans and newcomers as players manage asymmetric commands and special activities. The Reds must divide their efforts between consolidating civilian administration and waging an increasingly desperate war against a stronger opponent. The White Senate fights a more conventional war, enhancing military power with armored trains, cannons, and the elite, German-trained 27th Jaeger Battalion. The Social Democrats focus on building underground information networks, spreading news across the fronts, advancing political processes, and defending themselves from reprisals by the warring factions. A streamlined card-driven system controls non-player forces, enabling solitaire and two-player play. The game’s compact size, fewer players, and fast, fluid gameplay make All Bridges Burning accessible while preserving strategic depth.
