Beasts and Diplomacy (deutsch/engl.) is a strategy game for 1 to 6 players aged 12+ with a playing time of 60 minutes. Players draft cards and build tableaux as Knights competing to assemble the best exhibition of wild beasts, fulfilling secret quests and managing resources. The game emphasizes opportunity over scarcity, offering deep strategic play and high replayability through risk management and action sequencing.

Beasts and Diplomacy ist ein Kartendrafting- und Tableau-Aufbau-Spiel, in dem die Spieler zu Rittern des Landes Aterra werden und darum wetteifern, die beste Ausstellung wilder und seltener Bestien zusammenzustellen, die die Diplomaten des Landes beeindruckt. Die Spieler müssen zudem versuchen, ihre geheimen Quests zu erfüllen und gleichzeitig sicherstellen, dass sie über genügend Ore verfügen, um ihre ständig steigenden Unterhaltskosten zu decken. Wie viele Kartendrafting-Spiele bietet Beasts and Diplomacy Interaktionen, bei denen Spieler Karten an sich nehmen, bevor andere sie bekommen. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Drafting-Spielen liegt der Schwerpunkt des Designs jedoch nicht auf Knappheit, sondern auf Chancen. Während des Spiels müsst ihr ständig auf die Aktionen eurer Gegner reagieren und neue kurzfristige Pläne schmieden, um euer langfristiges Ziel zu erreichen: die ausgewogenste Ausstellung. Wenn sich eine Tür schließt, öffnen sich mehrere neue. Es liegt an euch, euren eigenen Weg zu finden.

Obwohl die Spielmechaniken im Grunde genommen einfach sind (z. B. Symbolzuordnung und Drafting), bietet „Beasts and Diplomacy“ Tiefe und Wiederspielwert. Bei den ersten Partien werdet ihr das Gefühl haben, gerade erst an der Oberfläche dessen zu kratzen, was möglich ist, doch mit zunehmender Erfahrung lernt ihr, Risiken, Finanzen und die Reihenfolge der Aktionen zu managen, was zu äußerst spannenden und wettbewerbsorientierten Partien führt. Nach drei Tagen, in denen ihr Karten gezogen, euch gegenseitig unterboten und die perfekte Ausstellung zusammengestellt habt, werden eure Ausstellungen anhand eurer Diplomaten und eurer geheimen Quests bewertet. Der Ritter mit den meisten Einflusspunkten gewinnt!

Beasts and Diplomacy is a card drafting, tableau-building game where players become Knights of the land of Aterra, competing to assemble the best Exhibition of wild and rare Beasts that appeal to the Diplomats of the land. Players must also try to fulfill their secret Quests while ensuring they have enough Ore to maintain their ever-growing Maintenance costs. Like many card drafting games, Beasts and Diplomacy offers interactions like players taking cards before others can get to them, however, unlike other drafting games the design focus isn't on scarcity, but on opportunity. As you play you will have to constantly react to your opponents' actions and formulate new short term plans to achieve your long term goal of having the most balanced Exhibition. When one door closes, several new ones open. It's up to you to find your own path.

While the game's actions are fundamentally simple (e.g. icon matching and drafting), Beasts and Diplomacy offers lots of depth and replayability. Your first playthroughs will leave you with a sense that you are just scratching the surface of what is possible, but with experience you'll learn to manage risk, finances, and action sequencing, which will lead to highly tense and competitive playthroughs.

After 3 days of drafting cards, undercutting each other and building the perfect exhibition, your exhibitions will be evaluated by your Diplomats and your secret Quests. The Knight with the most Influence Points wins!
