Ceylon (2nd Edition) (engl.)

Description

Ceylon (2nd Edition) (engl.) is a strategy game for 2 to 4 players aged 10+ with a playing time of 60 minutes. Players develop tea plantations in 19th century Ceylon, competing to produce and sell tea, gain favor with district counselors, and advance technology to score the most points and win.

During the late nineteenth century, a devastating fungus wiped out the coffee plantations in Ceylon, the island now known as Sri Lanka, triggering a severe economic crisis. In response, the Scottish entrepreneur James Taylor and later others transformed the agricultural landscape by replacing coffee with tea plantations, laying the foundation for what many regard as some of the finest tea in the world today. In Ceylon, players take on the roles of these pioneering entrepreneurs. They establish plantations across different districts and altitudes, produce tea, and compete to sell it to major export companies. Success depends on gaining the favor of district counselors and advancing technological innovations to outpace rivals. At the end of the game, players earn points based on their plantations in each district, their fulfillment of demand cards, their technological progress, and the money accumulated. The player with the highest score emerges as the winner.
