Combat Commander: Battle Pack #3 – Normandy is the third themed expansion of scenarios for the Combat Commander: Europe series, shifting the focus to the Western Front during June, July, and August 1944. It covers the intense battles as Allied forces landed in Normandy to liberate occupied France. This pack includes seventeen new scenarios printed on cardstock, featuring one multi-scenario Campaign Game, eight new maps, and additional markers required for specific scenarios. A distinctive new feature is the inclusion of leader counters representing historical individuals active in the depicted battles. Rules specifically address the unique challenges of fighting on the invasion beaches and in the inland bocage, introducing concepts such as:

• Rural Roads and Bocage
• Limited Smoke Barrage
• Mortar Spotters
• Invasion Terrain (Beach, Shingle, Water Barrier, Communication Trench, Hedgehog)
• Bunker Busting
• Night combat

Additional special scenario and campaign rules reflect key elements of the Normandy campaign, including Widerstandsnests, Casemates, Coastal Batteries, Commando Movement, Cliff Scaling, Bocage Clearing Doctrine, Pre-Registered Mortar Batteries, Armor Support, and Air Superiority. The maps depict significant locations such as Pegasus Bridge, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach (with positions on the beach at Widerstandsnest 61 and on the bluffs overlooking it), the villages of Crisbecq and La Madeleine, and Sword Beach at La Brèche d’Hermanville. Scenario highlights include:

• "Pegasus Bridge" featuring British Airborne units on 6 June 1944
• "Taking the Point" at Pointe du Hoc with US Rangers, plus a "Planned" variant
• "Widerstandsnest 61" and other Omaha Beach engagements with US Army units
• Battles at Sword Beach, Authie village, Battery Crisbecq, and inland Brittany with French SAS and FFI units
• Operations near Caen, La Madeleine, Cheux, Mortain, and the brave Polish night defense at Maczuga Hill
• The multi-scenario Campaign Game "29, Let’s Go!" recreating eight days of the 116th Regiment’s assault on St. Lô

Note that Combat Commander: Normandy is not a standalone game and requires ownership of both Combat Commander: Europe and Combat Commander: Mediterranean to play. However, seven of the seventeen scenarios and the campaign can be played without needing Combat Commander: Mediterranean. This expansion includes scenario designs by John Butterfield, Bryan Collars, Ric Van Dyke, and Volko Ruhnke. Expands: Combat Commander: Europe and Combat Commander: Mediterranean (both required).
