Command & Colors Napoleonics Grand Battles (Exp.) (engl.) This expansion enhances the Commands & Colors: Napoleonics game system with up to 10 Grand Battle scenarios, 10 EPIC engagements, and additional standard battles. It includes large battlefield maps, new units, Leader of Honor blocks, and unique Iconic Commander rules. Designed for 2 players, it offers deep Napoleonic tactical gameplay with flexible scale and historical accuracy.

The Commands & Colors: Napoleonics game system brings Napoleonic grand battles and smaller historical engagements to life with flexible scale, where units can represent anything from entire divisions to single regiments or battalions. Command cards manage movement and introduce a dynamic “fog of war,” while battle dice resolve combat efficiently. The stylized battlefield maps emphasize key terrain features and replicate historical troop deployments in line with the game system’s scale. The tactics reflect the strengths and weaknesses of Napoleonic armies and the terrain they fought on. Expansion 7: The Grand Battles adds up to 10 Grand Battle scenarios, 10 EPIC engagements, and various standard battles. Grand Battle maps measure 11 hexes deep by 26 wide and include two mounted map boards (left and right). EPIC battlefields are 11 hexes deep by 20 wide, nearly twice the size of the standard 9 by 13 map, and come with two mounted map sheets as well. A special bonus includes two Grand Battle extended-size scenarios—Waterloo (18 June 1815) and Borodino (7 September 1812)—printed on double-sided paper maps that are 11 hexes deep by 29 wide. These come fully set up with terrain and unit deployments to minimize setup time. New units enrich gameplay, featuring Polish French allies, British highlanders, and KGL infantry and cavalry, complete with all necessary blocks and rules for deployment. Leader of Honor blocks, introduced previously in the Generals, Marshals, & Tacticians expansion, return here. These blocks show portraits of historic Napoleonic leaders and allow for additional unit orders when playing a “Take Command” card. The number of Leader of Honor blocks varies per nation, reflecting each army’s historical command structure. New rules for Iconic Commanders enhance EPIC and Grand Battle scenarios. For example, when Napoleon commands, the French player can keep both Command cards drawn after playing a Scout card but must discard one from hand. Wellington allows the British player to redeploy up to 4 hexes of units before battle, distributed as they see fit. Other nations also have unique Iconic Commander rules. While EPIC scenarios play well with just two players, Grand Battles are best experienced with eight players (four per side). The Grand Battle rules here have been refined for better player involvement and control compared to earlier versions. For full enjoyment, EPIC and Grand Battle scenarios are recommended to be played using the Command and Tactician card decks from the Generals, Marshals, & Tacticians expansion. To access most EPIC scenarios, players will need the Commands & Colors: Napoleonics core game and several expansions including The Spanish Army, The Russian Army, The Austrian Army, The Prussian Army, Generals, Marshals, & Tacticians, EPIC Napoleonics, and The Grand Battles itself.
