Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs is a solo adventure set after the events of Gloomhaven and Forgotten Circles. You play as a wannabe hero who, in a misguided quest for fame, seeks out the reclusive Aesther named Hail. Known for her role in saving the city from disasters, Hail despises her reputation and has protected herself by enchanting her front door so that anyone who tries to enter is shrunk to the size of a mouse. Now miniaturized, you must navigate a new, perilous realm filled with dangers and lawlessness to find a way into the Crooked Bone and convince Hail to restore your original size. Each scenario is represented by a single card, where your mercenary faces off against several enemies controlled by a streamlined AI. Your mercenary’s deck consists of just four double-sided cards that can each be used front and back before being discarded. Combat uses a die roll combined with a modifier table, and as you progress through the campaign, you can improve both the modifier table and your mercenary’s abilities.
