Hollywood 1947 (engl.)

Beschreibung

The year is 1947, and you are part of Hollywood’s bustling movie industry. However, your small production studio is suspected of harboring communists, secretly slipping “un-Patriotic” messages, themes, props, and lines into films. Can you expose all the communists before your studio is shut down? Or will suspicion fall on you, banning you from the industry? Each player is secretly assigned the role of Patriot, Communist, or Rising Star. In every round, players take on unique jobs such as Screenwriter, Gaffer, Director, Actor, or Editor. These roles influence the type of movie being made, the cards players hold, and who receives special information. Players may choose to skip their job and instead re-roll any two dice in the game. At the end of each round, players with stars showing on their dice add cards to the movie. The added cards are shuffled, one is removed, and the rest are revealed. The team holding the majority of revealed symbols—counting those on that round’s movie poster—wins the round. The winning team is marked by placing their matching film-strip over the movie poster. The first team to win four rounds claims victory. The Rising Star plays a double game, aiming to extend the gameplay to seven rounds and force a tie on the seventh. Hollywood 1947 is a social deduction game where you must never reveal your loyalty, yet you are free to discuss the cards placed in the movie or your true allegiance. Open debate about the cards is encouraged, but if you are a Communist or the Rising Star, deception often helps achieve your goals since most players are Patriots. That’s a wrap. Most players learn the game within minutes, so prepare to make movies—but be cautious about whom you trust. Hollywood 1947 is the fifth standalone game in Facade Games' Dark Cities Series, following Salem 1692, Tortuga 1667, Deadwood 1876, and Bristol 1350.
