Living Forest 2nd Edition (engl.)

Beschreibung

Living Forest 2nd Edition (engl.) is a family game for 1 to 4 players aged 10+ with a playing time of 40 minutes. Players take on the role of nature spirits working with animal guardians to save the forest from flames by planting trees, collecting flowers, or extinguishing fires. The game features a push-your-luck mechanic and strategic action choices to protect the sacred tree.

In Living Forest, you take on the role of a nature spirit determined to save the forest and its sacred tree from the destructive flames of Onibi. You are aided by the animal guardians gathered around the Circle of Spirits, who provide valuable elements each turn. Carefully assemble your team of animal guardians to carry out your actions, but be cautious—some are solitary and prefer not to be mixed with others. There are three ways to achieve victory: plant 12 different Protective Trees, collect 12 Sacred Flowers to awaken Sanki, the great Guardian of the Forest, or extinguish 12 Fires to permanently drive back Onibi. Each turn consists of three phases:

• Guardian Animals (simultaneous push-your-luck phase): Reveal Guardian Animal cards one by one from your personal stack to form your Animal Guardian Help Line. You may stop drawing at any time, but revealing a third solitary symbol forces you to stop and closes your Help Line.
• Action phase: Play in turn. If your Help Line contains fewer than three solitary symbols (after accounting for gregarious symbols), you may perform two actions; if it has three solitary symbols, you may perform only one. The strength of each action depends on the number of corresponding elements visible on your Guardian Animal cards and your Forest board.
• End of the turn:
  • Onibi attacks you: If Fires remain at the center of the Circle of Spirits and you cannot resist, add Fire Varan cards to your discard pile equal to the number of Fire tiles present.
  • Onibi attacks the Sacred Tree: Add Fires to the center of the Circle equal to the number of Guardian Animal cards taken this turn.
  • Arrival of new Guardian Animals: Replenish the Guardian Animal reserve by revealing cards equal to those taken this turn.
  • Passing the Sacred Tree: Pass the Sacred Tree to the next nature spirit clockwise.
  • Return of Guardian Animals: Move all cards from your Help Line to your personal discard pile.

The game ends at the conclusion of a full turn when a nature spirit has collected either 12 different Protective Trees, 12 Fires, or 12 Sacred Flowers.
