Description
Messina 1347 is a strategy game for 1 to 4 players aged 14+. Players assume the roles of noble families around Messina during the Black Death, relocating citizens to their estates, managing the plague's spread through fire, and working to repopulate the city as the epidemic subsides.
In 1347, merchant galleys from the Crimean Peninsula arrived in Sicily, docking at the ancient port of Messina. These ships carried rats, the rats carried fleas, and the fleas spread a deadly plague known as the Black Death. Over the following four years, half of Europe’s population perished in cities across the continent.
Players take on the roles of noble families with estates surrounding Messina. Their goal is to save people from the plague by relocating them to their own lands. As the disease worsens in Messina, players establish small independent communities while attempting to control the spread of the plague through fire.
In the final stages of the game, the plague begins to subside, and players work to repopulate the resilient city of Messina by returning the rescued citizens.
