Million Dollar Script (engl.)

Description

It’s that time of year when major Hollywood studios are hunting for the next big summer blockbuster screenplay. Screenwriters, often in teams, compete fiercely to get their foot in the door and secure a meeting with a powerful film executive. With so many vying for a break, success truly is one-in-a-million.

Million Dollar Script is set in a lavish Hollywood office, where extensive market research has identified the perfect hero and villain to guarantee a multi-million-dollar hit. To ensure success, the studio demands adherence to the proven structure behind nearly every record-breaking blockbuster of the past forty years. This film is destined to join the ranks of greats like Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, The Avengers, and Titanic.

Two writing teams have been invited to pitch their best ideas to the studio executive—the “Exec.” Both teams collaborate on the same movie, presenting their concepts for each of the five traditional story events. In every round, the Exec chooses the preferred pitch, which then becomes part of the shared storyline. The losing pitch is discarded and treated as though it never existed—much like what should have happened to Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000.

Each team aims to win the majority of the five rounds, earning points to secure the lucrative writing deal and gain favor with the Exec.
