Mission: Red Planet puts 2 to 6 players in charge of rival mining corporations competing to claim the resources of Mars. Players send astronauts to the planet using specialist cards, each granting unique powers to influence the game. The astronauts are represented by detailed miniatures sculpted by Chiarra Billo. This new 2025 edition preserves the original bluffing and area majority mechanics by Bruno Faidutti and Bruno Cathala while introducing a modular board that changes with each game, adding varying levels of unpredictability. The game moves away from the previous steampunk aesthetic toward a fresh sci-fi theme, with all new visuals created by illustrator and video game artist Derek Stenning. In Mission: Red Planet, the resources of each area remain hidden until an astronaut lands there, making exploration a tense and strategic element. The modular board, designed by the game’s creators, allows for different layouts that influence the discovery process and player tactics, ensuring every game feels unique.
