Mountains out of Molehills ist ein Familienspiel mit unbekannter Spieleranzahl und Spieldauer. In diesem strategischen Brettspiel treten Spieler im Mountain Maker Turnier gegeneinander an, um durch geschicktes Stapeln von Maulwurfshügeln und Kontrolle von Bergen den Titel des Top Tunneler zu erringen.

Moles from all around gather to compete in the annual Mountain Maker tournament. In this light strategy game, players demonstrate their skill by stacking Molehills as high as possible and competing for control over multiple Mountains. The Mole who successfully builds and controls the most Mountains out of Molehills by the end of six rounds earns the title of "Top Tunneler" and wins the game.

Mountains Out of Molehills features a two-level game board and vibrant, full-color acrylic standees representing each Mole. The game unfolds over six rounds, each consisting of four distinct phases.

In Phase 1, players take turns drafting action cards from a face-up market to create a hand of four cards. These cards allow Moles to move underground while adding Molehill pieces beneath the Mountains above them.

During Phase 2, all players simultaneously decide the order in which they will resolve their action cards, placing them face down in a fixed stack—from first to last action. Once set, this order cannot be changed. Careful planning is essential to secure the most valuable Molehills, but players must also watch out for opponents who might block their path, throw rocks in their way, or cause Mountains to topple, spreading pieces onto other Mountains.

In Phase 3, players reveal and resolve their action cards in turn, following the predetermined order. Then, in Phase 4, scoring takes place. Players earn points for each piece in the Mountains they control—defined by having their colored Molehill piece at the bottom of those Mountains.

After scoring, the turn order for the next round is drafted, beginning with the player who has the most pieces on top of any Mountain. The player who goes first chooses cards first, while the player acting last gets the final movement of the round.

After six rounds, all points are totaled, and the player with the highest score earns the title of Top Tunneler, winning the game.
