Beschreibung

Northwest Passage (HMS Terror Editon) (engl.) is a strategy game for 1 to 4 players aged 14+ with a playing time of 60 minutes. Players lead expeditions in the Arctic to uncover the fate of Sir John Franklin and find the Northwest Passage. The game features crew management, exploration, and seasonal challenges, including sea ice blocking routes. This edition includes new materials, mini-expansions, and a solo mode.

In 1845, Sir John Franklin set out on a British Royal Navy expedition to locate and explore the final segment of the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic. Equipped with two ships, HMS Terror and HMS Erebus, a crew of 128 men, extensive scientific equipment, 1,000 books, and supplies for three years, they departed England in May. After encountering whalers off Greenland’s west coast in August and waiting for favorable conditions to cross Lancaster Sound, they sailed into uncharted territory—never to be heard from again. Their disappearance sparked widespread concern and numerous expeditions from Britain and America sought to uncover their fate. In Expedition: Northwest Passage, you lead these search efforts through perilous arctic waters. Assign crew members to your ship or sled to explore, move, and collect clues that might reveal the whereabouts of Franklin’s lost expedition. As the game unfolds, seasons change and sea ice spreads, blocking key passages and complicating your journey. Gain victory points by gathering evidence, mapping the region, and ultimately discovering the elusive Northwest Passage. But success depends not only on your discoveries, but also on returning to Greenland before the harsh conditions close in. This updated edition, following the original release in 2010, includes new components, mini-expansions, and a solo play mode, deepening the strategic challenges of this historic arctic quest.
