The Fox Experiment (engl.)

Description

In 1958, Demitri Belyaev and Lyudmila Trut began a groundbreaking experiment on fox domestication. They selected foxes that showed curiosity and less aggression toward humans. Each generation, only the friendliest pups were chosen to become parents, aiming to replicate the original domestication process from thousands of years ago. Over time, the foxes not only became friendlier but also developed physical traits typical of domesticated animals, such as spots, floppy ears, and curly tails. This communication between humans and foxes led to important insights into how these traits are inherited. The experiment is ongoing to this day. In The Fox Experiment, you take on the role of breeding your own domesticated foxes. Each round, you choose a pair of fox parents with specific traits, collect their trait dice, roll them, and then arrange the dice to complete trait symbols on your pup card. Marking off these traits earns you trait tokens, which you use to upgrade tracks on your personal player board. At the end of each round, the previous generation is removed and the new pups move to the kennel, becoming potential parents for the next round. After five rounds, the game concludes and players score points based on completed studies (personal objectives), upgrades on their player board, extra tokens, winning the friendliest fox award, and pleasing patrons. The player with the highest score wins.
