Imagine receiving several hundred hectares of land anywhere in the world and transforming it into a thriving habitat for endangered animals. You carefully replace non-native plants with indigenous species, creating a natural sanctuary where diverse animals can live and recover. Many of these animals are survivors of human violence or illegal trade, rescued and brought to safety. In The Sanctuary: Endangered Species, each player designs their own sanctuary dedicated to protecting different endangered species. By deploying volunteers and rangers, you develop your facilities, care for the animals, and restore their natural environment. You must maintain order and monitor animal behavior to ensure your sanctuary remains a safe and happy home. This unique worker placement game introduces an innovative "line of sight" mechanism. Players assign volunteers to perform various tasks, helping to care for the animals, develop the sanctuary, and expand its boundaries. The Sanctuary offers fast-paced gameplay with straightforward rules, yet delivers deep and rewarding tactical decisions. Each round presents multiple meaningful choices, and the player who makes the most effective ones will prevail. The game provides a highly replayable experience, as every session differs thanks to diverse action decks and numerous balanced strategies available during play.
