The Underground Challenge London Berlin Reprint (Exp.) (engl.)

Description

Note: This mini-expansion requires a copy of On the Underground: London/Berlin.

In The Underground Challenge, you compete directly against the real Underground lines. The map begins with several lines already constructed, and your goal is to surpass the Underground's score.

Similar to the engineering teams of the London Underground, you must cleverly build track and attract passengers to travel on your lines rather than the official ones. If you manage to outscore the Underground before the Destination cards are depleted, you win the challenge.

Each turn consists of four actions, which can be placing Track tokens or taking Branch tiles, just like in the base game. Passenger movement occurs twice per turn: the passenger visits one or two stations at a time. Destination cards corresponding to those stations are removed and replaced as per normal gameplay. The passenger then continues to another one or two stations, with the matching Destination cards also removed and replaced.

Passenger movement follows the rules for multiple players with one key difference: when the passenger's route is a player’s choice (due to equal options in empty spaces and lines), the player must select the route that awards the most points to the Underground. If all possible routes give equal points to both the Underground and the player, any route may be chosen.

The game ends when your Score tile matches or surpasses the Underground’s tile, marking your successful completion of The Underground Challenge.
