Description

Typhoon Over the Pacific (engl.) is an expert game for 1 to 2 players aged 12+ with a playing time of 120 minutes. The game simulates the Pacific War from 1941 to 1945, starting with the Japanese offensive and shifting to the Allied counterattack. Players command either side, experiencing strategic decisions and historical events until Japan's surrender.

Typhoon Over the Pacific recreates the entire conflict between the Japanese Empire and the United States and their Allies from December 1941 to August 1945, starting shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The game excludes the earlier "China Incident" of 1937, the Soviet offensive in August 1945, and treats the Pearl Harbor attack as part of the Allied setup.

Primarily designed as a solo experience, Typhoon reflects how only one side held the initiative at any moment during the war. The Japanese launch the campaign, expanding rapidly before their advance stalls after the Solomon Islands. Subsequently, the Allies, recovering from initial setbacks, undertake a sustained reconquest that lasts until Japan's surrender. Players assume the role of the currently active side, with the non-active side governed by the game’s rules.

The game begins with the player commanding the Japanese forces. If Japanese expansion falters, control switches to the Allied side, continuing the campaign until victory conditions are met. Victory is determined by totaling points earned by both sides throughout the game.

Alternatively, Typhoon Over the Pacific can be played by two players. Each player takes turns during their own Operations Phase while both follow reaction rules and Japanese logistical constraints to simulate the conflict’s dynamic nature.
