Beschreibung

In Fields of Fire Vol. II: "With the Old Breed," you assume the role of a captain commanding a rifle company in the 5th Marines, the most decorated regiment of the US Marine Corps. Experience three historic campaigns across World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Engage in intense combat on Peleliu in September 1944, where you face a changed Japanese strategy in the sweltering heat, forcing you to clear enemy forces entrenched in coral ridges. Battle through freezing November 1950 at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea, as flares reveal waves of Chinese troops surging over rugged mountain terrain. Fight street by street in Hue City during the fierce February 1968 clashes of the Vietnam War. Fields of Fire is a solitaire, card-based wargame that challenges players to command a rifle company across missions set from World War II to the present day. Unlike many tactical games, it uses no dice. Instead, two decks of cards govern gameplay: the Terrain Deck constructs a dynamic map based on the region of the mission, while the Action Deck controls combat, command decisions, and various activities. Your company’s units—headquarters elements, squads, weapons teams, forward observers, and vehicles or helicopters—are represented by counters. Each mission usually takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete. Multiple missions form historical campaigns, where players manage experience and replacements over time. This volume focuses on the legendary 5th Marines of the 1st Marine Division, known as the "Blue Diamond," recounting their valor throughout three pivotal campaigns in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam as part of the Fields of Fire series.
