Fire in the Lake (Third Edition) (engl.)

Description

Fire in the Lake (Third Edition) (engl.) is an expert-level game for 1 to 4 players aged 14+ with a playing time of 180 minutes. It explores the complex Vietnam War conflict through multi-faction gameplay, including US counterinsurgency, Communist infiltration, Saigon politics, and media war, reflecting the cultural and political struggles of 1964 South Vietnam.

Vietnam, 1964. The US involvement in the Cold War’s most painful conflict was never simply a matter of soldiers versus guerrillas. The war divided tribesmen from nationalists, Buddhists from Catholics, mandarins from villagers, and even northern communists from southern communists. Amid revolutionary upheaval, Washington relied on military hardware and operational analysis, pushing its counterinsurgency forces ever deeper into hostile territory. Ultimately, culture and determination outpaced technology and calculation, marking the end of industrial power’s unquestioned dominance in modern warfare. As the fourth installment in GMT’s COIN Series, Fire in the Lake offers a detailed, multi-faction simulation of the Vietnam War. One to four players will engage in US helicopter raids through dense jungles, Communist infiltration into the South, complex diplomatic negotiations in Saigon, efforts to disrupt the Ho Chi Minh Trail, air defense of northern infrastructure, graduated escalation, and the battle for public opinion through media influence.
