Beschreibung

"Into the Woods: the Battle of Shiloh" is the eighth game in the Great Battles of the American Civil War (GBACW) series by GMT Games. Building on the classic regimental-level mechanics introduced in the original Gettysburg game, Terrible Swift Sword, this series combines historical depth with flexible, interactive chit-pull systems that capture the chaos of 19th-century battlefield command. This edition focuses on the Battle of Shiloh, offering ten scenarios ranging from division-level engagements on smaller maps to two-map campaigns covering both days of the battle. Players will find tactical challenges that reflect key historical elements such as the Confederate surprise attack, the inexperience of many units on both sides, and the pivotal role of Albert Sidney Johnston in the Confederate offensive. Time scale is set at one hour per turn, with a map scale of 110 yards per hex and 20-foot elevation levels. Units represent 50 men or one cannon per strength point, providing a detailed and immersive regimental combat experience.
