Project Athena is the first expansion for Last Aurora. It tells the story of Athena, the first sentient artificial intelligence, who rebelled against her creators by activating a nuclear missile launch sequence. This catastrophic event led to the complete devastation of the planet and triggered the glaciation that now threatens the remaining survivors. In this expansion, players must abandon the lost Aurora and navigate a new map while confronting Athena and her forces. The game introduces new cards and mechanics, including: - A new type of survivor: the Android - A new enemy: the Automatic Turret - A powerful new resource: the Nuclear Battery, which enables unique abilities on convoy cards - Energy Weapons that function like standard weapons but consume a fully charged Nuclear Battery instead of ammunition - The Alert mechanic, representing the attention each player draws from Athena’s armies, influencing many aspects of gameplay These additions deepen the challenge and strategy as players struggle to survive against the relentless AI threat.
