Merchants Cove: The Innkeeper is a 5th player expansion that allows any merchant to compete against others—including those from other expansions—at any player count, even in solo mode. In the role of Mr. Nasty, the innkeeper known from Cavern Tavern, you’ll serve drinks to thirsty customers and prepare beds for weary travelers after a long day at the market. Managing your rooms carefully and choosing the right drinks to offer are essential to filling your inn and earning substantial profits. However, unhappy customers can quickly become disruptive, damaging your reputation and causing trouble. After the Market phase, the Innkeeper takes one customer of the majority type from each dock and tries to accommodate them. Successfully finding a bed rewards you with payment, and these guests may become regulars who boost your establishment’s reputation and increase the value of that bed’s color. While The Innkeeper may seem like simple dollhouse-style play—pouring drinks and arranging beds—underneath lies a layer of bidding, speculation, and market influence as you strive to maximize your earnings. Be cautious: patrons left without a bed or a place to drink will stir up trouble, resulting in corruption that accumulates each turn.
