Next War: Vietnam (engl.)

Beschreibung

For over 2,000 years, the Chinese have sought to dominate their southern neighbors. The most recent conflict occurred in 1979 when the People’s Republic of China invaded Vietnam in response to Vietnam’s occupation of Cambodia. That brief war lasted about four weeks before China withdrew, declaring its mission accomplished. Now, tensions have flared up once again. Both sides are contesting control over the resource-rich areas of the South China Sea, gradually edging closer to open conflict. That moment has arrived. Next War: Vietnam is the fifth installment in the Next War Series, returning the action to Asia and the volatile region surrounding the South China Sea. Unlike before, China no longer seeks a limited punitive operation but aims to decisively eliminate the growing threat from its southern border and assert its control over the South China Sea through military means. Building upon the naval mechanics introduced in Next War: Taiwan, players will battle over the Spratly and Paracel Islands, as well as the rugged jungle terrain of North Vietnam. If the U.S. becomes involved, it may deploy troops to Haiphong Harbor and advance on Hanoi, acting as a relief force and ally to its former adversary. The broader regional response remains uncertain: will neighbors take sides or choose neutrality? Next War: Vietnam can also be combined with Next War: Taiwan, and using the latter’s rules, expanded further with Next War: Korea to create a comprehensive Pacific Front scenario for a potential World War III. Ownership of previous Next War titles is not required to play Next War: Vietnam.
