Six of VIII (engl.)

Beschreibung

Six of VIII (engl.) is a childrens game for 3 to 4 players aged 8+ with a playing time of 15-60 minutes. Players compete in a trick-taking game set on a timeline, capturing courtiers and scoring points. The game features changing trump suits based on queens' reigns and includes an advanced variant with special King and Spy cards for added strategy.

Passions flared and power shifted as King Henry VIII pursued Anne Boleyn for nearly seven years before their marriage. Supporters of Catherine of Aragon refused to accept Anne, viewing King Henry’s first wife as the true Queen. Meanwhile, Anne’s followers saw her as the future, the young wife destined to bear the King a son. Six of VIII is a trick-taking game set along a timeline of these turbulent reigns. Each Queen represents a suit that serves as trump during her time on the throne. Players aim to capture tricks, especially those containing key courtiers, in order to score the highest points. The suits and timeline correspond proportionally to the lengths of each Queen’s reign, with Anne of Cleves holding the shortest. Players sit opposite their partners and begin by passing two cards face down. Tricks must be followed suit. Each trick is worth one point plus any points on the cards won. Four rounds are played, and the team with the most points emerges victorious. The advanced variant introduces three special cards: the King and two Spies. The King card is the highest trump. The Spies, represented as zero cards, serve as lowly servants working secretly against the opposing side. They come in black (Catherine of Aragon) and red (Anne Boleyn) but may reveal themselves as the 13 of the opposing suit. Additionally, there is the Church of England card, which is given to the team with fewer points after scoring. Once per round, it can cancel a trick that does not contain the King, adding strategic depth to the game.
