Bamboo (engl.)

Beschreibung

Bamboo (engl.) is a strategy game for 2 to 4 players aged 14+ with a playing time of 90 minutes. Players harvest bamboo, manage resources, and balance their homes while honoring spirits to earn points. Featuring accessible rules with deep strategic options and an advanced mode, it offers a challenging and puzzly experience across four seasons.

In Bamboo, you take on the role of a family cultivating bamboo and using their harvest to care for their home and kin. The game invites you to find harmony by balancing your household, decorating your house, offering incense to the temple spirits, and making sure your family is well-fed.

Players carefully manage their actions and resources, performing tasks such as seeking balance, cooking, home improvement, and finance management. Success depends on following the doctrines of home balance, which allows for optimal placement of home tiles across four categories: decoration, garden, faith, and useful. How you arrange these tiles earns you happiness points and shapes your strategy.

The game unfolds over four years, each divided into four seasons. During their turns, players burn incense in temples to gain favor from the spirits. Offering the largest incense offerings in sacred spaces grants players the blessing of one of the seven forest spirits, providing ongoing benefits and endgame bonus points based on the variety of spirits collected.

Preparing for winter is crucial: players must feed their families with tea, rice, or ramen stored from the previous season while continuing to honor the spirits and ancestors. Bamboo combines accessible rules with significant strategic depth, offering a puzzle-like challenge that grows with the advanced game mode on the reverse side of the personal boards.

Part of the Kemushi saga alongside titles like Bitoku, Bamboo offers a carefully crafted experience rich in theme and gameplay complexity.
