Dominant Species (2nd Edition 4th print) (engl.)

Beschreibung

Dominant Species (2nd Edition 4th print) (engl.) is a Kennerspiel for 2 to 6 players aged 12+ with a playing time of 120-240 minutes. Players take on the roles of animal groups competing for dominance during the Ice Age by adapting, migrating, and controlling terrain. The goal is to earn Victory Points and become the dominant species before the Ice Age fully arrives.

90,000 B.C. — A great Ice Age is looming, triggering a fierce struggle for supremacy among the animal species. Dominant Species offers an abstract recreation of this ancient challenge, focusing on the slow but relentless impact of the Ice Age on Earth’s creatures.

Players take on the role of one of six major animal groups—Mammal, Reptile, Bird, Amphibian, Arachnid, or Insect—all initially balanced against each other. Through strategic Action Pawn placement, they compete to become dominant on various terrain tiles, earning powerful Dominance Cards as a reward. Success depends on effectively growing and migrating their species to gain Victory Points.

Using actions like Growth, Migration, and Domination, players maneuver to adapt and thrive as the environment changes. The game culminates as the Ice Age fully sets in, and the player with the most Victory Points claims their Animal as the dominant species.

In this race for survival, quick adaptation is essential — the cold is closing in.
