The Magellan are eternal travelers, journeying through galaxies aboard their colossal worldships as they gather and exploit relics of long-lost civilizations. These ships harvest resources from cosmic debris and sustain the worldship through the vast expanses of space. The Wardens specialize in tracking down Ancient relics and tracing their origins. As the Ancients begin to awaken, these massive vessels emerge on the edges of our galaxy. Intelligence from the Council suggests that the Magellan’s appearance signals more than exploration and resource gathering—they seek to establish long-term galactic dominance. In gameplay, the Magellan receive a free Discovery Tile upon Technological advancement and score points at the end for Discovery Tiles used as Ship Parts. Their Colony Ships can be used to gain additional Resources. The Enlightened of Lyra have chosen a path of quiet expansion within the Lyra system, growing their intricate Shrine network into neighboring star systems while subliming their consciousness within it. Recently contacted by the Seven due to the expansion of this grid, the Enlightened form powerful Trinities as their Shrines connect during mind sublimation. These Trinities alter fundamental structures, driving remarkable advances in their civilization. Their colonization fleets can tap into the Shrine grid, causing minor distortions in the causality continuum, which have turned the tide in several conflicts. Mechanically, the Enlightened build Shrines that provide various bonuses and end-game scoring opportunities. Their Colony Ships allow them to reroll dice. The Second Dawn editions of these races introduce several balancing adjustments, including changes to starting resources and sectors. Notably, the Enlightened feature a completely redesigned Shrine mechanic.
